Our official Call for Speakers will open shortly. We are putting the final touches and we cannot wait to see the stories, technical masterclasses, and creative workflows you bring to the stage.
We are looking for practitioners, thinkers, and storytellers from across the digital ecosystem to share practical knowledge, real-world case studies, and hard-earned lessons.
Whether you have spoken at dozens of tech conferences or have never stood on a stage before, we want to hear your perspective. You do not need to be a seasoned public speaker to apply. If you have built something interesting, solved a difficult problem, or learned how to navigate your corner of the web, our community wants to learn from you.
What We Are Looking For
WordCamp Nairobi reflects the full spectrum of building, designing, and operating on the modern web. We curate sessions across two primary learning stages:
Beginners & Fundamentals Focus
- Concentrates on foundational learning, creative workflows, business operations, and career development.
- Talks like: demystifying digital tools, accessible design, content strategies, freelance and agency growth, personal well-being in tech, among others
Builders & Contributors Focus
- Dives into advanced engineering, specialized masterclasses, performance, and open-source contribution.
- We want sessions that explore code architecture, modern development workflows, security, integrations, community contribution, among others.
Suggested Topic Areas
We encourage proposals across these themes, but do not feel limited to them:
- Development & Engineering: Modern WordPress development, Full Site Editing, custom block development, headless architectures, API integrations, and code optimization.
- Design & Experience: UI/UX workflows, typography, design systems, accessibility standards (a11y), and design-to-development handoffs.
- Business & Freelancing: Pricing strategies, managing clients, contract negotiations, scaling service agencies, and navigating cross-border remote work.
- Culture & Personal Development: Mental health in the tech space, career transitions, mentorship, team leadership, and sustaining open-source communities.
- Content & Growth: Digital strategy, editorial workflows, copywriting, SEO, analytics, and building loyal online audiences.
- Security & Infrastructure: Website hardening, hosting environments, backup and disaster recovery strategies, performance tuning, and database optimization.
Got a Different Talk Idea in Mind?
Don’t hold it back. If you have a unconventional idea, an emerging technology or unique local case study, outside our focus areas that you believe will genuinely benefit our community, submit it anyway. If it delivers value and sparks curiosity, our review team will happily consider it.
Important Details for Our Speakers:
- Duration: Talks will be either 30 or 45 and 60 minutes for the workshops, depending on the topic.
- Multiple Applications: You can apply for multiple talks on different trails, but a separate application form is required for each.
- Contact Information: Include your contact details on just one slide (preferably at the end or very beginning).
- Focus on Learning: Remember, this is a learning adventure, not a commercial space. Share your knowledge and experiences, but keep the focus on education.
- Respect the Spirit of WordPress: The spirit of WordPress and its GPL license must be upheld in your presentation.
